I got it in my head that I just needed a manual Forester XT. Not that crazy, right? Well there is a bit of a problem of finding a XT here in Utah in general and forget about picking up one with a manual. Pair that with finding a clean low mileage and a reasonable price means it is near impossible. What is the solution? Buying one out of state of course! After looking through forums and Craigslist for months I finally came across one in my favorite place as of late to buy things, Texas. After a week of negotiating the logistics(I have never bought a car online before), I booked a ticket and flew to Houston last Friday. 27 hours later with the help of a good buddy, I made it home.
The crazy things us car enthusiasts will do to find that car. I can only imagine to an outsider that it makes us look plain crazy.
This is the first stop in some tiny town between Dallas and Amarillo. There were so many towns with grain silos and I knew I had to stop and fire off a few shots.
Smashing a few bugs along the way…
Our route took us through Western Texas and through the top corner of New Mexico which we hit at golden hour.
The GPS managed to screw up only once.
The back end isn’t so bad either. Now I need a hitch to pull our Scamp.
Both places had interesting scenery other than the XT.
Would I do it again? Of course! Though I hope next time it will be in a little bit closer of a state.

Hopefully Oregon next time. Good golden hour pics.
I’ve always liked those xt’s, but the wife hates them so bad she won’t even consider letting us own one. I guess it’s an acquired taste. A girl at Stampin’ Up! has one lowered on sti wheels.
I am debating on lowering it or not. I love them lowered but since we will be pulling our trailer with this I am not so sure.
Just stumbled across your amazing movies and images researching bikes and cars…classic that you have bought a subi. We have a 2005 XT exact replica of what you have, the wife would not swap it for the world, great power and what i consider the best looking forester that has been released ours has 40,000 miles on the clock and i image will go strong for a lifetime!
